Piano repair in the Allgäu – I come to you

A sticking key, a rattling note, a broken string? As a state-certified piano maker I repair your upright or grand – much of it right at your home.

What is possible

What repairs are possible on uprights and grands

A piano is a complex instrument of thousands of parts, and the range of repairs is just as wide: sticking keys, broken strings, worn hammers and dampers, rattles and buzzes, a sluggish action or trouble with the pedals.

As a trained piano maker I identify the cause – and fix more than the symptom. That is the difference from a tuning alone.

What can be done on site – and what takes more time

Many repairs I complete right at your home: sticking keys, minor action adjustments, single strings, sources of noise. That spares you the effort of transporting your piano to a workshop.

For more involved work – say, on action parts that must be removed – I take the parts in question with me and restore them properly. Your piano itself stays right where it is. What makes sense in your case, I discuss openly with you beforehand.

More than tuning

Why a piano maker can do more than a tuner

Not everyone who tunes pianos is a piano maker. I learned the complete craft at Steinway & Sons and am a state-certified piano and harpsichord maker. In short: I understand the whole instrument, from string to action.

Especially with older or valuable instruments it pays to have someone who thinks repair and value preservation together – and tells you honestly what is worth doing and what is not.

Repairs are billed by effort – for a free, no-obligation quote I take a look at your instrument first. The pricing overview is here.

FAQ

Piano repair – common questions

Is repairing an old piano even worth it?

That depends on instrument and damage. Sometimes repair is the best answer; sometimes I honestly advise against it. I assess your piano and give you a frank opinion – even when it speaks against a job for me.

Will I get a quote beforehand?

Yes. After an assessment I tell you which work is needed and what it costs – before I do anything.

Do you come out for repairs across the whole Allgäu?

Yes, I am mobile across the Allgäu and the Freising area and come to you for assessment and repair.

Something broken?

Have your piano assessed

Describe the problem briefly – often a phone call is enough for a first assessment.
